The Chase – Chapter 1

The Chase – Chapter 1

Matthew had clear instructions not to hear me, not take my suggestions into account and only discuss things with my mom. Matthew discussed my training chart with the elegant, evergreen Bollywood bombshell – Manya Chopra weekly once.

Sometimes I hated how others called the shots on my life, but other times it didn’t matter.

Mom had left her acting career the minute she had me with dad, but she was an icon. The world still remembered her and her moves. And everyone adored her, even today. Dad was a director, and they had met on set, fell in love, and got married, all within a span of six months. I came soon after, and just five super hit moves old, mom had to leave her career for me.

Did she regret having me? She never had another child because she wanted to focus on me. Had I let her down?

“Are you listening?”

Ouch. I held the receiver far from my poor ear, but mom made a disapproving noise under her throat, and I knew her patience was waning.

“Sorry. What were you saying?”

Tisha, why don’t you join your dad’s company?”

I frowned. “You want me to join the glamour world?”

She was so against the idea. What had happened that she had suddenly changed her decision?

“No. I…, I didn’t mean Gaurav. I meant Armaan. He has his business all over. I can ask him to give you his Mumbai business.”

“What exactly do you mean by giving mom? Like charity?”

Aisha winced for my sake as she passed me. Patting me on the back, she went straight towards her wardrobe. She fetched three dresses from inside and showed me. I zoned out mom as I contemplated the choices.

One was a white tube dress. No, it was too revealing yet simple. It didn’t suit Aisha’s personality. The other one was red, cancel. Aisha always wore red. I pointed towards the third. Purple. Sleeveless with a plunging neckline and two white roses on the left shoulder.

Wow, when had she got this? Aisha showed her thumb just as I heard someone screaming my name. Oh, shit, mom. I again zoned her out. I tried not to, but she irritated me.

Dad would chuckle and say – how dare you ignore the famous Manya Chopra? Don’t you know she has a billionaire husband now? I smiled, thinking about him. I will call him tomorrow. Not today, as he would catch on to my stress, and I didn’t want him to worry. We usually delegated that job to mom.

Tisha and Aisha are perfect besties who seem to have each others back. The confusion that it comes with regarding her dismantled family. The chapter was perfect

Loved the chapter 1 and the bond Tisha and Aisha shares. Excited to see how the party scene goes and the entry of the male protagonist, Aayansh Ahluwalia 💗 😍
Absolutely enjoyed the conversation between mother and daughter. Curious to know about Tisha’s secrets.
Overall loved the first chapter 🤩
