The Chase – Chapter 2

My eyes roamed, taking it all in. It was entirely green on either side of us, and the greenery stretched until my eyes went. The neatly cut grass and golden fence screamed money, but A loved showing off his money.

I saw a fountain with a statue of a peacock. Lights ran in sync with the water, and it felt like the light was pouring from the hose instead of the water.

Going further inside, I saw a tennis court. I had heard A loved playing tennis. Finally, I saw a right, and my mouth opened in an O as I saw his lavish mansion.

“This is… I am speechless, Aisha.”

“Me too… how big would this be?”

“Five stories, but I have no clue about the insides. But it would take us an entire day to see this mansion once.”

“As if we will get the chance. I love the outside and cannot wait for the inside.”

“Hmm… I am nervous now.”

“Hey, don’t. Don’t let this intimidate you.”

“It was good he kept us all away from this for ten years.”

“Tish, you are a confident and intelligent young woman. You know how to talk, and your sense of humor is at par. So, screw him and the world. Don’t let anyone intimidate you.”

I smiled, and Aisha gave me another hug.

Oh, great. I took a relieved sigh as I found the valet. I stopped the car, and we stepped out. Handing the key to the guy, we sauntered inside, hand in hand. The house was still far, but I enjoyed walking, and the scenery around us was also exquisite.

I turned when I didn’t find Aisha by my side. She had stopped, and her mouth was open.

“Aisha, close your mouth.” I laughed and smacked on her lips but scrunched my nose as her brown lipstick imprinted on my palm.

Taking a tissue from my beaded purse, I wiped my hand and discarded the napkin in the nearby bin while she gawked at her surroundings.

This place was literally like a palace from movies. I had been to Rajasthan and seen such opulent décor, but for the first time, my eyes marveled at something so ultra-luxurious in Mumbai. We were famous for concrete, marbonite tiles, and modular kitchen but not this.

“We are at the Aayansh Ahluwalia’s house. The founder of Scintilla! I cannot believe my eyes that I am actually here. It’s good you forced me to come.”

“Yes. The very same. And I wasn’t going to go without you.”
