The Chase – Chapter 2

I grinned and caught her before she bumped her head on the hood.

Aisha sighed and hugged me, all despairing thoughts forgotten.

“Baby, tell me whose house we are going to. Someone bigshot, right? You told Bollywood and Cricketers…, but I don’t know who.”

“Guess.” I sang, rubbing my hands together because it was game time, and I didn’t want to fail today.

“Sorry, I am blank. I also don’t know whose party we are going to. All I heard was unlimited drinks and appetizers.” She said, gazing at the gates as if suddenly she could see the insides.

I laughed at her words, and she unglued her eyes from the mansion and glanced at me, her eyebrows raised and eyes dancing with excitement.

“It’s Aayansh Ahluwalia’s mansion. How can you not know who A is?”

She screamed loud enough for others to turn and look at us. I hid my face, but even I couldn’t stop as I burst out laughing.

Oh, I loved her so much!

See, that’s what I was saying earlier. Aisha was the life of any party, and she had already started creating a scene. It was going to be one hell of a night. I hoped my work concluded soon so I could be with her and soak in her happiness.

“Of course, yes. I should have understood what Bollywood and cricket meant together. He has a copyright on that. No one else can ever be called A.”

I nodded but stayed quiet, my eyes on the tendrils-like design on the metal railings. Even railings weren’t ordinary. Would anything here be simple? No.

“When will we get inside?”

“It’s good we are early.”

“Hmm… yet we are stuck in the queue. We can be inside taking selfies and bombarding our Instagram, but we are stuck in this cramped space, sitting inside your boring car.”

“Only three more cars. And my car isn’t boring. It’s practical and has good mileage.”

“Blah, blah, got it. I cannot wait. I want to go inside now.”

“Aisha, honey, have you already started consuming alcohol for the day? Did you have a glass at home?”

“No, but this mansion has intoxicated me. I am in a trance and cannot wait to see the inside. Aayansh Ahluwalia never lets anyone enter his paradise. How did he agree to this party?”

I laughed, shrugged because I had no clue, and pressed the horn. It was of no use, but I wanted to do something. The security glared at me, and we both fell into pits of laughter.
